CODA Degree Required (Closed)

What training qualifies: Foreign graduates must complete at least two academic years of formal clinical training at a US/Canadian CODA-accredited institution AND be awarded a DMD/DDS from that institution. A residency does NOT substitute for the CODA degree.
Exams: Not available to IDGs without a CODA DDS/DMD
Scope: Not available to IDGs via residency
Board notes: Alabama Board of Dental Examiners (Steve Hancock, 2026-05-13), quoting Rule 270-X-2-.03(2)(c): "At least two (2) academic years of formal clinical training in a United States or Canadian accredited institution and the awarding or receiving of a D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from said ... accredited institution shall be required." Board: "the Alabama Board cannot issue a dental license to a foreign-trained dentist — regardless of how much post-training/education/licensing that dentist has had."
