Minnesota — LGL Dental Licensure
for International Dentists
How an international dentist (IDG) gets licensed to practice in Minnesota — LGL without a US DDS or DMD — sourced from a direct reply from the Minnesota — LGL dental board.
Limited General License (LGL) pathway: FCSA transcript+syllabus evaluation establishing ≥ 204.5 credit equivalency (≥ 163.5 clinical/lab + ≥ 41 non-clinical) → 3 consecutive years of supervised practice with a favorable recommendation → petition for unrestricted license.
MN Board (May 2026, Jennifer Lindsey): "Very few IEDs make it through this pathway as they don't have the educational equivalency... Only the initial dental degree is evaluated. We do not consider work experience or post-graduate international training." Only FCSA accepted — WES/ECE NOT accepted. Takes ~4 years end-to-end.
